Meet The Team

Principal, Gemma Welch

Gemma (BA Hons) has several years experience in both the dance world and educational establishments. As an ex-English teacher in a busy secondary school and a current Guide Leader, Gemma can bring those skills into her dance and drama lessons to make them fun but purposeful.

Gemma is continuing to develop her own personal portfolio whilst supporting other students and trainee teachers along their own dance pathways.

Current qualifications include: Fellow with the IDTA with qualifications in Freestyle, Latin and Ballroom; ABD Acrobatic Dance, IDTA Anatomy and Physiology Diploma.

Vice Principal, Jackie Welch

Jackie is a retired nurse and midwife who has also had several years experience working in a secondary school, firstly as a Pastoral Manager and later as a Health Adviser.

Whilst she does not attend weekly lessons, Jackie is known to our students for her seamstress skills and for supporting all of our extra-curricular activities (such as exams and competitions). She will always go out of her way to ensure that our dancers are happy and comfortable.

  Miss Gemma Scott

Gemma has been dancing since she was a child and is an extremely enthusiastic teacher with over 4 years experience teaching core subjects. Her main passion is ballet and tap but she has experience in several genres.
Her current IDTA qualifications include: Licentiate Ballet, Level 4 Diploma Tap, Associate Freestyle, Anatomy and Physiology Diploma. She is also a qualified Cheerleading teacher with Building the Ground Up Cheer.

  Mrs Helen Rodgers

Helen danced ballet and tap as a child and now has a great enthusiasm for Freestyle dancing.
She is also extremely artistic and often helps with backdrops and props for our shows and events.

Miss Emily Aston

Emily (BA Hons) has not long left university and is full of enthusiasm. She is keen to help our dancers develop their personal skills in preparation for competitions as well as working with both beginner and advanced adult dancers.

Emily has danced since she was a small child in various genres. Her speciality is Freestyle.

Miss Sereena Chahal

Sereena (BA Hons) has not long left university and is full of enthusiasm. Whilst she is starting out by helping with some dance and drama lessons, her primary focus is going to be developing our parties (see Rhythm Ravers) which suits her crazy personality!

She has been dancing for 7 years and has experience in several genres, her speciality being Freestyle.

Ms Jayne Harris

Jayne is our Stay and Play Coordinator, qualified in Childcare and Health and Social Care.  She also holds her Food Hygiene certificates and you will frequently find her in the kitchen, cooking our delicious breakfasts or serving tuck and refreshments to our dancers and parents.  As a mother to 4 herself, she is a natural with all children.
